New And Used Canoes

For the ones who aren`t familiar with the word, canoe is a small narrow boat. It is usually driven by a person or persons using paddles. Very rarely it is fitted with motors for propelling. Thus it is typically a man-driven boat.

There are generally two people paddling. Paddling is different from rowing. While rowing, one sees in a direction opposite to that of the direction of the boat. On the other hand the one who paddles the canoe sits in the direction of the boat`s movement.

Canoes are some of the oldest means of water transport. In earlier days, the canoe used to be built from wood. Nowadays, they are even made of light materials like aluminum. This makes them safer and more versatile.

Canoes are used for not only traveling and transport but also sport. Canoeing is such a wonderful and thrilling sport. There are canoe races which are between individuals as well as groups. These races can get very exciting at times.
